Father God, Holy God, Supreme Sovereign LORD Creator, YAHWEH! Father, we look to You, there is none other, from Your magnificent example we learn of Your marvelous ways, You have bestowed a multitude of graces upon us, and one we are familiar with because You bless us with it everyday is Forgiveness.
Father, we beg that You teach us to forgive. You tie our own forgiveness to whether or not we have been practicing this grace to the fullest in our own lives. Father whatever the sin, whatever the transgression, we bring it before You and You condition our forgiveness on the mere repentance of our hearts, requiring godly sorrowfulness and remorse but beyond that our forgiveness is unconditional.
Father, what a grand lesson that is, as we extend the same unconditional agape based love on those whom have trespassed against us, used and abused our confidences and trusts, our friendships and loyalties cast aside like worthless scrapes, yet in the shadow of Your so Great Love and Grace we must be as gracious as the one in whom we put our love, faith and trust in.
Father, like the child trying to wear the much to big, father’s shoes, you have given us some mighty big shoes to fill, and by the power of Your Holy Spirit within us we can make the trip. Father, so bless us this day with complete forgiveness and absolution of our sins, and we shall be mindful of extending the same grace to others, mindful of the washing of the Blood of Jesus, and the tossing of our sin accounts into the sea of forgetfulness.
Father, may we learn that Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not conceited, does not act improperly, is not selfish, is not provoked, and does not keep a record of wrongs. Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends and thus neither should our willingness to forgive have a limit. Father may this Love find its manifestation and expression in our communion with all of our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Father, may we learn to share this grace of forgiveness limitlessly amongst ourselves that we might be even better family than our natural families, for the age old adage says, “blood is thicker than water,” and there ain’t no blood thicker, more powerful, more precious, costlier or juicer than the Blood of Jesus. Father have this lesson of Forgiveness stick in us so that any bitterness caused by its absence has no nurture or root, nothing to feed on but love, leaving the saints free to accomplish and achieve all the great purposes of Your eternal will.
Father, bless this and all the prayers of the Saints this day as we go about lifting up the name of Jesus, in Him and by His blood, amen.
